Offenses dominate as Benton outscores ABA 13-9
Benton and the Arkansas Baseball Academy lit up on the scoreboard on Sunday as they combined for 22 runs at Lamar Porter Field in Little Rock. Benton won the offensive battle 13-9 in seven innings.
The two teams combined for 25 hits, including nine extra base hits. Jordan Britton racked up two RBIs on two hits, including a home run in the sixth.
Justin Vincent pitched six innings, allowing six runs (five earned) on five hits with five walks and eight strikeouts. Matthew Krikorian pitched one inning, allowing three runs on three hits with two walks and two strikeouts.
In the top of the first, Vincent led off with a single and Blake Nations ran for him. A single by Krikorian put runners on first and second with no body out. After both runners advanced to second and third, Brooks Balisterri hit a sacrifice fly to score Nations and move Krikorian to third.
Carson Holloway singled and Krikorian later scored on the play. Benton had a 2-0 lead heading into the bottom of the first but ABA trimmed the lead with a RBI double.
Vincent was 2 for 5 and Krikorian was 2-3 with three runs scored and two RBIs. Balisterri had a hit, a run and three RBIs.
Nations scored three times and Holloway was 2-3 with a run, three RBIs and a walk. Taylor Schmidt had three hits and a RBI.
Coulton Lee was 1-4 with a run and a RBI. Britton was 2-3 with two runs and two RBIs and a walk. Brandon Stout was 1-4. Grayson Chilton was 2-4 with a run and Britton was 1-3 with a run and a walk.
Benton will face Catholic today with the junior varsity beginning at 4:30 p.m.
