Ray Griffin

Ray Griffin, 81, of Heber Springs, formerly of Benton, passed away on Nov. 9, 2013, from lung cancer. He was born Jan. 20, 1932. in Foyil, Okla.,to Charles Henry Griffin and Clara Moore Griffin.
He was a member of Southside Baptist Church and served with the Army in the Korean War. A self-proclaimed workaholic, he was an electician and retired after 28 years with Enmar as maintenance supervisor.
He also loved woodworking and made all types of cedar furniture and accessories.
He was preceded in death by his siblings, Leslie, Walter, Troy, Berlie, Junior, Raymond, Norman and Ethel.
He is survived by his wife, Dorothy (Dot); a son, Kevin Griffin and wife Carol of Conway; daughters, Karen Harvill and husband James and Joy Griffin, all of Benton; two grandsons, Marcus Griffin of Benton and Jacob Griffin of Conway.
Other survivors are three stepchildren, four step-grandchildren and four step-great-grandchildren; a brother, Lee Roy Griffin and wife Eunice of Tuttle, Okla.; two sisters, Ruth Wheeler and husband Ralph of Westport, Wash., Retha Cardwell of Clinton, Mo., a sister-in-law, Donnie Griffin of Hobbs, N.M.., as well as cousins, nieces and nephews. Also surviving are faithful friends Mike Culp, Ed Ballentine and Bobby McNew, who would pick him up and take him to lunch.
Funeral service was scheduled for 10 a.m. today, Nov. 12 at Southside Baptist Church. Burial was scheduled for at 4 p.m. today at Pinecrest Memorial Park in Alexander.
Visitation was held Monday, Nov. 11, at Olmstead Funeral Home in Heber Springs.
