Rogie Thomas Garrett
Rogie Thomas Garrett, 77, of Benton received his wings April 6, 2014. He was born Nov. 1, 1936, in Paron. He was a Master Licensed Plumber from 1968, during which time he served and met many close friends in Saline County and surrounding cities.
He was a one-of-a-kind, prideful, fun-loving and hard-working man. He was a cattleman, an all-time farmer, a gardener, a Paron shuffler and a cook.
He had a passion for helping and giving to others and was well-known for making the best homemade sausage, peppered bacon and hams.
Many people have great memories of hunting, fishing, laughing and riding the back roads with him.
He was loved fiercely by so many and touched many lives by his selflessness.
Handshakes and hugs were always welcome. He loved his family and friends and he loved cooking for them the most. If he wasn’t cooking, tinkering or working in the fields, he wasn’t a happy man.
To stay busy would be his motto and everyone else needed to be busy as well.
He was preceded in death by his mother and father, Dewey and Alberta Garrett; two brothers, Nathan and Crawford Garrett; two sons, Rogie Dale (Ducky) and Gerald Garrett; and one daughter, Patricia Garrett.
He left behind a wife, Lula Lavonne Garrett of Benton; one sister, Clara Skillern of Lonsdale; a sister-in-law, Juanita Garrett of Fayetteville; two daughters, Leassie Isom (Eddie) of Benton and Angela Pritchard (Dwayne) of Perry; two stepdaughters, Debi Bono (Ron) of Bismarck and Pamela Eagle (Donald) of Maryland Heights, Mo.; and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, step-grandchildren, and step-great grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday, April 10, in the chapel of Roller-Ballard Funeral Home (315-4047) with Brother David McCool officiating.
Family visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, April 9, at the funeral home.
