Hadley Jade Hess is only four days old, yet she's already a celebrity.
Hadley became the first baby to be born at Saline Memorial Hospital in 2012.
The little girl arrived at 4:58 a.m. Monday, Jan. 2, weighing 8 pounds, 1 ounce, and measuring 20 inches in length.
She is the daughter of Lisa Burnett and Jerry Hess of the East End community. The family also includes Hadley's older brother, Dalton Burnett, 3.
Dr. Estelle Rutledge was the attending physician.
“We celebrate every single birth at SMH, but we always like to give our New Year’s baby a little extra recognition,” said Rebecca Jones, director of marketing and community relations.
The new parents received a gift basket filled with items donated by Saline Memorial and other local merchants including Just Leave it to Liz, Westside Pharmacy and Lainie Deerman Photography.
“It was an easy and quick labor,” Burnett said . “Dr. Rutledge was awesome and did a great job. We’re thankful for our healthy baby girl.”
This was Dr. Estelle Rutledge’s third consecutive year to deliver the New Year’s baby at SMH.
“Welcoming a healthy baby is a great way to start the new year,” Rutledge said. “I love what I do and feel privileged to be able to share these special moments with each family.”
“Our SMH labor and delivery unit exceeds patient satisfaction scores in every category from overall quality of care to courtesy and friendliness,” Jones said. “We have an excellent team of doctors and nurses that genuinely love what they do, which makes a huge difference.”
SMH currently is in the process of updating the hospital's labor and delivery suites with new floors and walls. All rooms are private and prenatal classes are available for expectant mothers.
