Saline Memorial names new CEO

March 7, 2012

Bob Trautman named as new CEO of Saline Memorial Hospital.

A new chief executive officer has been named for Saline Memorial Hospital.
The SMH Board of Directors has selected Bob Trautman to fill the CEO position.
Trautman comes to SMH with more than 35 years of executive-level health-care experience working in a diverse group of healthcare facilities from Mississippi to California, according to Rebecca Jones, director of marketing and community relations.
"He brings extensive experience leading a 239-bed acute care hospital in Palmdale, Calif.," Jones said.
“We’re excited to welcome Bob to Saline Memorial and to the community,” said Mike McCauley, chairman of the SMH Board. “We feel great about the future of the hospital and the excellent leadership Bob will bring to our organization.”
Trautman said he is looking forward to serving in the top executive post at SMH.
"I'm excited to be coming to Saline Memorial Hospital," Trautman said. "It's a great opportunity, and I'm looking forward to working with the motivated staff and physicians to continue to enhance health-care services for the community."
He will assume his role as CEO on April 2. He is succeeding Carla Robertson, the interim CEO, who has served in that capacity since the July 2011 resignation of Randy Fortner.
After Trautman's arrival, an event will be held to introduce him to the community, Jones said. The date will be announced later.
Trautman reportedly received a bachelor’s degree in health education from the University of Central Arkansas in Conway and a master's degree in hospital administration from California State University in Northridge.
The selection of the new CEO followed a nationwide search, according to Jones.
Three on-site interviews took place in January involving hospital managers, physicians and community leaders. After the on-site interviews, the board received feedback from those involved in the search before making a decision, Jones added.
SMH is a 167-bed, community-centered, non-profit hospital that has served Saline County and surrounding areas for more than 55 years.
