Sport Stop loses two
Benton Sport Shop lost its last two games, 9-6 Thursday to Lakeside and 17-9 Saturday to Sheridan.
Sport Shop scored two in the first inning against Lakeside, but gave up eight in the second, which proved to be too many from which to come back. Sport Shop went on to score three in the second and one in the fourth before the run rule was called in the fifth after Lakeside scored one more in the fourth.
Matt Mitchell started on the mound and pitched 1 2/3 innings with two strikeouts and one walk while giving up five hits. He also beaned two batters before being relieved by Holt Fulcher, who went 3 1/3 innings, walking five and giving up three hits.
On Saturday, Sport Shop used four pitchers as Sheridan continually put up several runs on the board each inning. Sheridan scored five in the first and four in the second, third and fourth. Sport Shop scored three in the first, one in the second and five in the fourth, but was held scoreless in the third and fifth.
Ian Allred pitched one inning, giving up four hits with one strikeout, two walks and two hit batters, while Chris Hamilton pitched 2/3 of an inning and gave up two hits. Mitchell pitched 1 2/3 innings, striking out one with four hits, three walks and two hit batters. Caleb Terry went 2/3 of an inning, allowing two hits.
