Stella Virginia Holst Estes, 86, of Malvern died April 28, 2013.
Virginia graduated from Malvern High in 1945. A self-taught pianist and organist, she traveled the region performing with her sisters and brother, evangelizing for the Assemblies of God. She went on to serve as pianist for several local churches over the years.
Virginia's long career included owning Virginia’s Flowers in Malvern. She was the ultimate hostess and was one of the first in the area to offer full-service wedding planning. She went on to work in bookkeeping and designing house plans for J.L. Scott Builders and bookkeeping for Leming Heat and Air.
Her final career was in interior design, working alongside her sister Alene and family at The Floor Store on Main Street. She built such a reputation there that readers of the Malvern Daily Record continued to name her "Best Interiror Designer" years after her retirement.
Virginia and her husband were avid golfers at the Malvern Country Club, and she enjoyed regular card games with friends. Her other interests included membership in the Malvern Garden Club, the Malvern Chapter of Business and Professional Women and charter membership in Women in Construction.
Long-time residents of the area may remember her over-the-top antics in the annual Junior Service League Follies. She loved to sew, try new recipes and travel. But her greatest joy came from her growing family of children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren, especially later in life. She was a member of First United Methodist Church.
She is survived by her daughter, Beverly Leming and husband Bob; two sons, Tim Estes and wife Ruth and Tracy Estes and wife Renee; grandchildren, Ronnie Leming and wife Donna, Terri Davidson and husband Jon, Candice Floyd and husband Ken, and Chelsea Nutt; and nine great-grandchildren.
Funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, May 1, at Regency Funeral Home. Burial will be at Oakridge Cemetery. Arrangements are by Regency Funeral Home of Malvern.
Visitation is set from 5:30 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, April 30, at the funeral home.
