Streak at 13 for Benton after rout
BENTON – The Benton Lady Panthers added to their already impressive season with their second 15-0 win in a row on Thursday. Benton beat JA Fair on Tuesday in three innings. El Dorado got a bitter taste of Benton on Thursday as Benton extended their winning streak to 13.
Starting pitcher Lauren White started the game in the circle and sat down El Dorado in order in the top of the first.
Despite getting their first two runners on in the home half, Benton could not push across andearly run as the first ended in a 0-0 tie. White allowed her only base runner to reach in the second inning on a single. She sat down the next three to end the top of the second.
Benton wasted no time getting on the board in their half of the inning. Taylor Atkinson started Benton off with a single. Bailey LeVart followed and monstered a shot over the left-field wall to give Benton the early 2-0 lead. Jessica Harding kept Benton going with a single, but was forced out at second on a fielder’s choice by Hailey Durham. Drew Melton followed with a single to put two on with only one out in the second for Benton. An error by El Dorado allowed Daphney Bono to reach and scored Durham to make it 3-0 Benton. The Lady Panthers continued to pour on the runs as they continued for five more in the inning including an RBI single by Atkinson, followed by a two-RBI double from LeVart.
White sat El Dorado down in order once again in the third, sending Benton back to the plate needing just seven runs to end the game early.
That is exactly what they did as Benton pushed across seven more runs on five hits and four walks. Seven Lady Panther hitters each had an RBI in the third.
Benton ended the game in the third with a 15-0 rout of El Dorado to get to 13-1 on the year and 5-0 in conference.
Atkinson led the Lady Panthers with a 3 for 3 showing at the plate. She also scored three times and drove in two.
LeVart went 2 for 3 with four RBIs and scored once.
The Lady Panthers will head to Greenbrier on Tuesday for another 6A match. First pitch is set for 4:30 p.m.
