Tommy Dwight Thompson

Tommy Dwight Thompson, 64, of Benton was born Aug. 3, 1949, in Forrest City, and went to be with his Lord and Savior on Aug. 2, 2014, which is also the day that he married the love of his life, Janice Boyle. They were in Branson celebrating their 40th wedding anniversary when he passed away.
Dwight loved his church, serving many years as an elder of Zion Lutheran Church. He will be remembered for his radiant smile and contagious laughter. His sense of humor always brought light to any situation. He was loved and will be missed by all his family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his father, Solon J. Thompson, and his mother, Cora Bess Nash Henderson.
Dwight is survived by his wife, Janice Lynn Boyle Thompson of Benton; three sons, Gary Shane Thompson and wife Renee of Springfield, Mo., Jeremy Dwight Thompson and Colby Lynn Thompson, both of Benton; a brother, David Wayne Thompson and wife Samantha of Brinkley and children, Chris and Kristin; a sister, Rebecca Beavers of Del Rio, Texas, and children, Dale and Ryan; a brother-in-law, Bobby Boyle and wife Linda of Helena and daughter Bethany.
Funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 6, at Zion Lutheran Church in Avilla with burial to follow at Zion Lutheran Cemetery.  The Rev. Michael Schleider will be officiating. Pallbearers are Chris Thompson, Curtis Nash, Hal Mason, Richard Baker, Dean Nash and Landy Thompson. Honorary pallbearers are Terry Mason, Dion Nash, Larry Nash, Roger McGraw, Ryan Beavers, Dale Beavers, Bill Nash and the elders, Tuesday Morning Bible Class and members of Colleen’s Sunday School Class at Zion Lutheran Church.
Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 5, at Ashby Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Zion Lutheran Church of Avilla and the Humane Society of Saline County, P.O. Box 305, Benton, AR 72018.
