According to the Benton Police Department, officers responded to room 103 at Cedar Wood Inn in Benton around noon Tuesday in reference to a possible deceased person.

Upon entering the room, officers located a white man, later identified as Dustin Holland, "slumped over the bed," the report stated.

Maintenance worker Martin Brown reported he was conducting room checkouts when he checked Holland's room at approximately 11:30 a.m.

Brown told officers he noticed that there were several clothing items spread out across the room and the bed and that the bathroom sink was broken on the floor. He added that the sink was not broken the day before when he was in the room prior to Holland checking in.

Brown said he did not notice Holland's body during his initial check, due to the clothes covering the bed, and returned to the office to contact the man's grandmother who had checked him in the night before.

Brown and Holland's grandmother, Donna Holland, returned to room 103 where they located the man's body.

Officers said they spoke with Donna at the scene who informed them that she dropped her grandson off at the motel at approximately 8:30 p.m. Monday.

Donna also told officers that "Dustin was on drugs, but was unsure of what type."

He was pronounced dead at 12:24 p.m.
