Vance Floyd Skillern

Vance Floyd Skillern, 88, of Crows Station passed away Friday May 10, 2013. He was born February 22, 1925 to the late Violet Garner Skillern and Floyd C. Skillern in Hot Springs.
Mr. Skillern was a retired electrical engineer; a member of Gravel Hill Baptist Church; a U.S. Army veteran serving during World War II; a member of Local Union 619 & 295 and IBEW; and the recipient of a 70-year pin.
He was predeceased by his parents, Violet Garner Skillern and Floyd C. Skillern; his first wife, Ella Thomas Skillern; and one brother, Stanley A. Skillern. 
Survivors include his wife, Clara Shell Skillern of Crows Station; one brother, Kenneth Skillern of Story; two sisters, Faye Powell and husband Ronald; Lorene Wells and husband, Roger all of Hot Springs; sister-in-law, Ophelia Skillern of Hot Springs; one step daughter, Clarissa Harris and family of Benton; many nieces, nephews and friends. He will be missed by all.
Funeral service will be held at 11 a.m., Monday, May 13, at Hot Springs Funeral Home with Brother Gary Gipson and Brother Clarence Shell officiating.  Burial will follow at Morning Star Cemetery. 
Visitation will be held from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday, May 12, at Hot Springs Funeral Home.
