Verna Faye Hodkin

Verna Faye Hodkin, 91, of Benton passed away on Dec. 8, 2013.  She was born Nov. 5, 1922, to the late George and Bertha Melton in Alum, Ark.
Verna was a member of Holland Chapel Baptist Church for more than 15 years. She loved teaching Sunday School and being active in the church.
Mrs. Hodkin loved to cook, enjoyed pottery and was very proud that she was able to make a Christmas tablecloth for her children and grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 70 years, Morgan L. Hodkin; a son, Phillip Hodkin; a grandson, David Pruden; two brothers and two sisters.
Verna is survived by her daughter, Patricia Pruden (Joe); a son, Morgan Ellis Hodkin (Elaine); grandchildren, Cherri Mitchell (Dwight), Jessica Overall (Matt) and Tara Hodkin; two great-grandchildren, Brody and Jax Overall; six brothers; two sisters and many family members and friends who all loved her and will miss her dearly.
A celebration of life will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 11, at Dial and Dudley Funeral Home in Bryant. Burial will follow at Ten Mile Cemetery. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service.
