Singers, dancers, gymnasts, actors and youngsters with sundry other talents are set to take command of the stage in the eighth annual Caldwell Elementary School variety show.

The event will get under way at 2 p.m. and continue until 4 p.m. Sunday at Butler Auditorium on the Benton High School campus.
Thirty acts will be included in the show, which is sponsored by the school’s Parent Teacher Organization, PTO spokesperson Angela Trotter said.
Also included will be a mystery act performed by members of the school faculty, she noted.
“This is something people will not want to miss,” Trotter said.
She noted that proceeds from the fundraiser will be used to make improvements to the school playground, We encourage people to come and enjoy the entertainment,” Trotter said.
“We have had a great response from our Caldwell students who wanted to participate in the variety show,” Trotter said. “All of the children auditioned, have prepared their acts and are now ready to put on the show.”      All children under 12 will be admitted free to the show, but a $2 donation is requested of adults, she said.
“This money will go to our playground fund,’ she said. “We believe parents, grandparents and other friends will want to show their support for our kids and our school by attending.
“It is going to be a great show,” Trotter promised.
She also encouraged people to participate in the drawings that will be included.“Just a $1 donation will get your name in the drawing of your choice,” she said. “You can donate at the door on show day or in advance today at the school.”
D’s Videography will be at the event to film the show. DVDs sell for $20 and may be ordered at the door of the event, Trotter said.
“We have some great packages we are giving away,” Trotter said. “All you have to do is donate $1 to our playground fund and your name will be added to the drawing of your choice.
“Each $1 donated represents one entry,” she said.
All donations should be placed in a sealed envelope and include a notation that the donation is for the variety show project, Trotter said. “A table will be set up at the show to accept the donations until the show actually begins.”
Winners will be announced at the event. Persons do not have to be present to win, Trotter said.
Special prizes are available to students, she noted. “The class receiving the most donations to the drawings will win a free 30-minute recess.”
Special prizes will include the following:
•The Best Birthday Party package — a party at Leah’s Gymnastics for 10 children. $80 value.
•Family Night Out — four tickets to a movie at Tinseltown and four buffets at CiCi’s Pizza.
•Sports Package — Nike basketball from Sport shop in Benton; Mossy Oak camouflage rolltop dry gear bag; donation from Motion Outdoor Equipment; Flex Tone Canadian goose call from Turbyfill’s Outdoor Sports Center.
•Fun with the Family — four bowling passes from Enterprise lanes and meals for four at Smokey Joe’s.
