Courier Staff Rick Bellinger has announced that he will seek the Republican nomination for justice of the peace in Saline County’s District 4.
Bellinger will face JP Barbara Howell, also a Republican, in the May primary. Howell said she will seek re-election but has not formally announced. District 4 encompasses the Salem, Beaver and Owen areas, and parts of Bryant. Bellinger, 48, of the Salem community is the managing partner of Riverside Grocery in Benton. He has more than 25 years of management experience in the retail grocery industry, both in Saline and Garland counties. “I feel that my experience with budgets and managing expenses makes me an ideal candidate to help run and implement changes that may better the operations of Saline County,” Bellinger said. “I will make a commitment to the people of District 4 to attend all meetings of the Quorum Court and represent people of the district to the best of my ability. I look forward to serving the people of Saline County.” Bellinger has served as secretary/treasurer of the Jessieville Volunteer Fire Department and vice president of the North Garland County Water District board of directors. “I ran unopposed for Garland County Water District, but this is the first time (for me) to face somebody (in a race),” he said. Bellinger is engaged to Mattie Robertson of Benton. Bellinger is the father of Stephanie Rankin, 24, who is also in retail management; and Chris Bellinger, 23, a veterinarian student at Oklahoma State University. |
