    Jack Winton Ferguson, 81, of Benton left this earth on March 7, 2008, at 5 a.m. ct.
    He was born May 14, 1926 in Monroe, La., to William and Dottie Childress.
 Jack was one of that great generation born during the Depression and was inducted into the Army on Nov. 29, 1944, at age 18. He served his country in the 1st Battalion, 187th Glider Infantry, in the Asiatic Pacific Theater Campaign, Philippine Liberation, Japan and Okinawa.
    He was employed by Southwestern Bell Corp. for 36 years and retired in 1982. Jack had a passion for family, friends, hunting and fishing.
    Jack was preceded in death by his parents, his brother Bill, his sister Anna Mae and many friends.
 He is survived by the mother of his children, Juanita Duvall Ferguson of Benton; a son Don and wife Patricia of Benton, their son Don Patrick, David and wife Janice of Hot Springs, their children William, Joshua, and Heather, Rod and wife Donna of Sheridan, and Robbie Dean of Florida, Donna’s two children Jennifer and Keith Glindeman, his wife Ashley and their son Karson.
    Also surviving is one sister, Mildred Bearden of Benton; a brother, Bob Ferguson and wife Georgia of Benton; nieces, nephews and cousins.
 Jack and Juanita “Sarge” were married in 1986 and he became “Papa Jack” to Mike Pruitt and wife Vickie and their children, Justin and wife Jennie of Hopkinsville, Ky., Linnea Cates and husband Tommy of Alexander, and Austin, Mitch and Wendy Pruitt of Hot Springs, their daughters, Lexie and Kassie, Jana Clark and husband Alan of Hot Springs, their children, Andrew and wife Cherrie, and daughter Shay.
    Please join the family for visitation at Ashby Funeral Home in Benton Monday March 10, from 6 to 8 p.m.
    Services will be officiated by James Scott at Gravel Hill Baptist Church on Highway 9 off Highway 5 north of Crow’s Station at 10 a.m. Tuesday, March 11. Interment will be at Gravel Hill Cemetery.
 Pallbearers are Jeffrey Rickard, Nuwet White, Mark Martindale, Jerry Elliott, Gill Adams and Mitch Pruitt.
 Honorary pallbearers are Mike Pruitt, Kent Ferguson, Andy Ferguson, Ryan Adams, Bryan Bearden, Jonathon Allen, Andrew Clark and Keith Glindeman.
