Today is the last day for early voting on the school millage issue; early voting can be done in the county voting center, located in the building adjacent to the courthouse annex, across the street from the county courthouse. Tuesday is election day on the proposal, which would raise Benton’s millage rate by 6.5 mills to a total of 41.9 mills. The extra money, about $28.6 million, would go toward facilities improvements in the school district, particularly to Benton High School, which was built in the 1950s and needs extensive renovation, officials there say.
