Bullock seeking 8th term on court |

Owen Bullock of Benton has announced that he will seek an eighth term on the Saline County Quorum Court.  Bullock
Bullock, 66, has owned and operated Bullock’s Market Inc. at Bullock’s Superstop with his wife, Carolyn, for 30 years. “It’s an honor to serve the people of Saline County, and I’d like to continue serving,” he said. Bullock, a Democrat, represents District 9. He will be opposed in the Nov. 7 general election by Republican candidate Jim Whitley of Benton. Bullock was the first emergency medical technician in Saline County and was a reserve deputy under three sheriffs. He has served in several capacities for the county, including serving on the Transportation Advisory Council for Metroplan, a regional planning board. Bullock also served as chairman of the Quorum Court’s Bridge Committee that was instrumental in replacing the old Ed Dodson Bridge. Bullock has been a member of the board of directors for the Central Arkansas Development Council’s Single Parent Scholarship Fund; has served on the Senior Adult Council; and was a member of the founding panel for the Benton Advertising and Promotion Commission. He was chairman of the Superstop Co-op, a chain of 200 convenience stores in Arkansas. Bullock has been a member of the county’s Finance and Personnel Committee since beginning his service on the Quorum Court. He was chairman of the committee for two years. He also serves as the court’s liaison to the Saline Memorial Hospital Board of Directors.
