Lucile Smith Stewart Garrett, 90, of Benton died Friday, April 18, 2008. She was born Aug. 24, 1917, in England, Ark. to Emery and Hassie Mae Smith. Mrs. Garrett was co-owner of Stewart Plumbing Co. in Benton and a member of First United Methodist Church. She was preceded in death by her parents; two husbands, Irvin Stewart and Robert D. Garrett; and two sisters, Juanita Smith Hughes and Agnes Louise Wilson. Survivors include two brothers, Jerry M. Smith and E. L. Smith and wife Lola, all of Benton; Funeral is scheduled for 10 a.m. Monday at First United Methodist Church with the Rev. Willliam Cato officiating. Burial will be in New Rosemont Cemetery. Pallbearers are Zach Smith, Caleb Smith, Jeremy Smith, Bill Kyser, Lee Hughes and Carl Hughes. Visitation will be from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday at Ashby Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to the First United Methodist Church, 200 N. Market St., Benton, AR 72015. Family comments: She was known as Aunt Sissie and Miss Lucy to her many friends and loved ones. Her body gave out long before her faith. A woman of charity and positive attitude, her last words were “I’m OK and I love you.” Special friends were Jan, Kim and Tonya. She had several nieces, nephews and many friends. Special appreciation is extended to the caregivers, Rhonda Crouse, Linda Ziegler, Gail McKinney, Beulah Hall, Leasha Marshall and Pat Woolsey. |
