Lady Cards already heading to regionals E-mail
Thursday, 24 April 2008

The Harmony Grove Lady Cardinals have already achieved this season what they couldn’t in 2007.

They have made it to regionals and they secured the berth against the team that kept them from getting that far last season.
A 6-5 win over Atkins secured a second place finish in the 5-3A on Tuesday. As has been the norm, the top of the Lady Cardinal lineup did the job. Mallory Cabe got two scoring rallies going. Once in the second after Lauren Martin struck out but reached on a catcher’s error. Cabe then drew a walk along with Lauren McNeeley setting up Harmony Grove’s most consistent run producer as of late.
Chastity Westbrook’s single with the bases loaded drove in Martin and Cabe.
Westbrook also got a run batted in when she grounded out in the fifth which proved to be the difference in the game.
Kayleigh Allen scattered six hits while walking five and striking out five more.
Harmony Grove will have an automatic bye into the second round of district tournament thus giving them the automatic regional bid.
In 2007, the Lady Cardinals were ousted in their opening game of the 5-3A district tournament by the Lady Red Devils in a 2-1 heartbreaking loss that ended a season that had championship expectations.
