Jeronimo Araiza, 87, of Lonsdale passed away Monday, April 21, 2008, at Saline Memorial Hospital. He was born Sept. 30, 1920, in San Antonio, Texas. He served his country in World War II as an electrician’s mate third class in the South Pacific. He retired as a sergeant from the County of Los Angeles after serving more than 34 years as a deputy sheriff. Shortly after his retirement, he moved from California to Arkansas, where he enjoyed many active years gardening, traveling and enjoying family and friends. He is survived by his devoted wife, Esther, of 61 years; three sons, Jerry Araiza Jr. and wife Dorothy of Colton, Calif., Robert Araiza and wife Juli of Lonsdale, and Mario Araiza and wife Hilda of Alta Loma, Calif.; a daughter, Linda LeBeau and husband Michael of Big Fork, Mont.; nine grandchildren, Leslie Araiza, Emily Kiner and husband Brian, Tami Bean and husband Brian, John Araiza and wife Stacy, Mario Araiza Jr., Marcus Araiza, Tom Chavey, Eric Araiza and Aaron Araiza; and 11 great-grandchildren, Andrew and Gabriel Araiza, Anthony and Andrew Bean, Precious, Marcus, Jordyn, Cara, Bryce, Kennedy and Nicholas Araiza. Cremation arrangements are by Gross Funeral Home. The family will receive friends and family at 3905 Arkansas 128 in Lonsdale from 3 to 5 p.m. Sunday, April 27.
