The event recognizing state Sen. Shane Broadway, D-Bryant, will start at 6 at Brown’s Country Store & Restaurant, 18718 Inter-state 30.
Patrick Rhodes, event coordinator, said he expects a large crowd for the roast of Broadway, whom he calls “the face that launched a thousand cameras.”
Proceeds from the fundraiser will be divided between Boy Scout troops in Saline County and Rare Cancer Research.
Tickets are $25 each and may be purchased by calling the mayor’s office at 776-5905 or going by the Courier at 321 N. Market St. in Downtown Benton during business hours.
Gov. Mike Beebe is expected to provide a special video presentation.
Former roastees include Holland, who is serving his second term as Benton mayor; former state Sen. Doyle Webb of Benton; and Donnie Burks, director of the Benton Athletic Memorial Museum on the Benton High School campus.
The Broadway roasters will be Webb; Burks; Whit Jones, editor of the Courier; and a person Rhodes calls a surprise roaster.
A live auction will be held during the event.  The auctioneer is Curly Bledsole of Benton.
Following are auction items:
• Limited-edition Boy Scout .22-caliber, lever-action hunting rifle donated by Bull’s Eye Gun & Ammo and Robert Scott of Benton.
• Limousine service, dinner for four and an evening with the Arkansas Twisters, donated by Executive Limousine Service and the Arkansas Twisters.
• A family weekend package at Camp Ross-Rhodes on Lake DeGray, donated by the Boy Scouts, Ouachita Area Council.
• Official print of the “Arkansas Traveler” from the Arkansas State Capitol, donated by state Rep. Lamont Cornwell, D-Benton.
• A free conceal to carry class with accessories, donated by Bull’s Eye Gun & Ammo.
Cornwell also donated an Arkansas flag that has flown over the state Capitol that will be given away as a door prize.
Rhodes, of Hot Springs Village, has served as event coordinator all four years. He is a former Saline County justice of the peace and former chairman of the county Republican Party.
Broadway, a Democrat, also served in the Arkansas House.
To donate an item for the auction, call the mayor’s office at 776-5905.
