Library’s used book sale set May 16-17 in Benton |

The Saline County Li-brary’s used book sale will be held Friday and Saturday, May 16-17, in the lower level of Herzfeld Memorial Library in Benton.
Sale hours are 9 a.m.-5 p.m. Friday and 9 a.m.-3 p.m. Saturday. Admission is free. The public is invited. A variety of works from several genres will be available Julie Hart, Saline County Library director, said. “We were the fortunate beneficiaries of many of Rod Lorenzen’s books after he decided to close his bookstore,” Hart said. “Eight thousand books, in fact.” Lorenzen, former owner and operator of Lorenzen and Co. Booksellers in Little Rock, decided to pursue other ventures. He serviced several niche audiences, featuring different collections such as Arkansas books and out-of-print materials. Linda Edwards, library board member and book sale coordinator, said the sale will be large. A thousand comic books also were donated to the library and will be available for 50 cents each. she said. Paperbacks and comic books will be available for 50 cents. Hardback books, videos, audios, puzzles and magazines will be $1 each. Romance paperbacks with a red stripe and men’s adventure paperbacks with a red stripe will be available at five for $1. Proceeds from the two-day event will be applied to 2008 programming for the library system’s Benton and Bryant libraries. Herzfeld Memorial Library is at 1800 Smithers Drive.
