Seniors receive diplomas this week E-mail
Monday, 19 May 2008
Five area high schools will hold graduation ceremonies this week.
Seniors at Benton, Bryant, Bauxite, Harmony Grove and Glen Rose will receive diplomas during commencement exercises scheduled Thursday and Friday nights.
Close to 900 area seniors will participate in Class of 2008 ceremonies. Following is the graduation schedule:
Benton — 7:30 p.m. Thursday at the Stephens Center on the University of Arkansas at Little Rock campus.
Bryant — 7 p.m. Thursday at Alltel Arena in North Little Rock.
Bauxite — 7 p.m. Thursday at Dawson Gymnasium on the BHS campus.
Harmony Grove — 7 p.m. Friday at Henley Fieldhouse on the HGHS campus in Haskell.
Glen Rose — 6:30 p.m. Friday at the Glen Rose Sports Arena on the GRHS campus.
This is the first year for Benton to hold graduation ceremonies outside the city. The Benton School Board last year approved the change of location to Little Rock.
For years, Benton seniors graduate at Lewis Stadium in Downtown Benton. Prior to that, commencement exercises were held in the fieldhouse on campus.
The school district will provide transportation to Little Rock for people who want to attend graduation but do not have transportation. Call the high school principal’s office at 778-3288 by Wednesday to arrange for transportation.
Bryant used to hold graduation ceremonies at its football field but changed the location to Little Rock a number of years ago. The school district used Barton Coliseum before moving to Alltel Arena.
