Seniors receive diplomas tonight |

Seniors at Benton, Bryant and Bauxite high schools will receive diplomas in graduation ceremonies tonight.
Commencement exercises for Benton will begin at 7:30 at the Stephens Center on the University of Arkansas at Little Rock campus. Bryant seniors will begin their ceremonies at 7 at Alltel Arena in North Little Rock. Graduation ceremonies for Bauxite will begin at 7 at Dawson Gymnasium on the BHS campus. This is the first year for Benton to hold graduation ceremonies outside the city. The Benton School Board last year approved changing the location to Little Rock. Benton seniors used to graduate at Lewis Stadium in Downtown Benton. Bryant used to hold graduation ceremonies at its football field but changed to Little Rock many years ago. Barton Coliseum was the venue for commencement exercises before Alltel Arena. Benton has 257 senior class members. Benton doesn’t name a valedictorian or salutatorian. Top graduates are David Allen, Tyler Hawkins and Ali McAtee. Baxter Reecer is president of Benton Class of 2008. Other officers are Leslie Stilwell, vice president; and Ally Chilton, secretary. Bryant has 441 senior class members. Valedictorian is Taylor Shultz. Lennon Bates, Steven Sichterman Jr. and Amber Westbrook are salutatorians. Ethan Passmore is president of the Class of 2008. Other class officers are Lindsey Cason, vice president; Jennifer Harris, secretary; Alex Goff, treasurer; and Ben Griffin, reporter. Bauxite has 82 senior class members. Keenan Gillispie is valedictorian and Jaylynn Chitwood is salutatorian. Other honor graduates are Brent Armstrong, Chelsea Case, Britni Cook, Christina Cordell, Brock Muilenburg, Nick Stillman, Jeanie Stuckey, Cooper VanDevender, Amelia Woodall and Spencer Workman. Case is president of the senior class. Other officers are Justin Newcomb, vice president; Chitwood, secretary; and Tommy Wimberly, treasurer. Harmony Grove and Glen Rose seniors graduate Friday night on their respective campuses. |
