Herman Forrest Nelson, 87, of Benton died Sunday, May 25, 2008. He was born Dec. 1, 1920, in Belfast, Ark., to Frank and Roxie Nelson. Mr. Nelson was owner of Nelson Real Estate and Insurance in Benton, former president and treasurer of the Benton Saddle Club, a member of the Benton Kiwanis Club and a member of the First Baptist Church. Mr. Nelson was preceded in death by his parents; his two wives, Mary Jane Kate Nelson and Betty Boyce Nelson; a daughter, Shelia Gay Jarrett; four brothers, Elmo, Everett, Hershell and Ray Nelson; and two sisters, Lessie Hardy and Houses Smith. Survivors include two daughters, Elizabeth Ann Cantrell of Benton and Mary Lynn Fee of Little Rock; five grandchildren, Mark, Matthew and John Jarrett, Mike and Matt Orender, Tabitha Barron and Shawn Fee; 16 great-grandchildren; and a son, James Herndon of Alexander. Graveside service was held at 11 a.m. today at McPherson Cemetery on Salt Creek Road in Benton. Visitation was from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Ashby Funeral Home. PAID OBITUARY |
