George E. Southerland, 73 of Shannon Hills died Tuesday, June 3, 2008.  
He was born Nov. 21, 1934, in Conway to George Southerland Sr. and Mabel Southerland.  
Mr. Southerland retired from Alcoa after 30 years and a veteran of the 101st Airborne “Screaming Eagles.”  
He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Larry Scott Southerland; and a brother, J.C. Southerland.
Survivors include his wife of 50 years, BettySoutherland; two daughters, Susan Southerland and Georgeann Southerland, both of North Little Rock; a son, Dana Anthony Southerland of Dallas; and four siblings, Maureen Screeton of Hot Springs Village, Harroll Southerland of Pleasant Valley, Johnny Southerland of Conway and Ann DeSalvo of Florida.
Memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. Friday at Roller-Drummond Funeral Home in Little Rock with the Rev. Bob Marble officiating.  
Memorials may be made to Mabelvale United Methodist Church, 10500 Woodman, Mabelvale, AR 72103, or the charity of the donor’s choice.

    Family comments: He was a loving and supportive husband, father and provider and an avid beekeeper, storyteller, race car enthusiast and artist. He also is survived by his extended family, Greg Stewart of Dallas and Antoinette George of North Little Rock.
