Maurice Z. Simmons, 92, of Haskell, passed away June 17, 2008, at her home. She was the daughter of the late Walter and Dollie Mobley. Maurice was a member of Landmark Missionary Baptist Church of Traskwood. She was a homemaker who most loved being with her family. She was a wonderful cook and Sunday dinner was looked forward to with delight. She was preceded in death by her husband, C.A. “Jake” Simmons; two brothers, Floyd Mobley and Doyle Mobley; and a sister, Estelle Green. She is survived by two sisters, Odelle Hughes and Jean Mills; a sister-in-law, Olive Mobley; five sons, Robert “Bob” Simmons of California, Jack and wife Jeanette Simmons of California, Paul and wife Lucy Simmons of Benton, Edwin and wife Brenda Simmons of Benton and Randy Simmons of California; two daughters, Debra and husband Ivan Holloway of Magnet Cove and Althea Simmons of Benton; 13 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; along with a host of nieces, nephews and many other friends and relatives. Funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday at Landmark Missionary Baptist Church in Traskwood with burial in Traskwood Cemetery. Minister will be Bro. Jacob Bagby.
