Humane Society of Saline County representatives ask anyone on the prowl Friday night to stop by the special “Moonlight Cat Adoption” event at the animal shelter in Bauxite.
Because of crowded conditions, the shelter is having its first evening adoption event from 6:30 to 9. There are more than 40 kittens and numerous adult cats from which to choose. Humane Society volunteers are asking everybody to come by, even someone just wanting to pet the cats. Anyone looking for a special feline friend should fall in love with one of the many cats available for adoption, Humane Society representatives said. The shelter had more than 50 animals spayed and neutered this week. Community residents are asked to make donations to help with the large medical bills because of the influx of puppies and kittens at the shelter. Donations may be mailed to P.O. Box 305, Benton, AR 72018 or made on the Web site at www.hssaline.org. Normal shelter hours noon to 4 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday. For more information, call 557-5518 or e-mail

Pet of the week this week is Sam I Am, a sweet, calm and loving orange and white male neutered cat. He would be a wonderful pet for anyone, especially someone who would enjoy watching a cat sleep peacefully most of the time. Sam I am was rescued from a local shelter that euthanizes animals when one of the Humane Society volunteers fell in love with him. Humane Society representatives believe the right person is about to walk into the shelter. They will find Sam I Am just as irresistible as Humane Society volunteers and employees do. Ann Sanders is president of the Humane Society of Saline County. Pet of the Week will be featured each Thursday. |
