Benton teen killed in car accident |

Erin Merritt, 15, of Benton reportedly died in a single-vehicle accident on Arkansas 298 according to the Arkansas State Police.
Merritt was a passenger in a vehicle driven by Bradley Drennon, 18, also of Benton. A state police report said Drennon was driving at a high rate of speed just after 11 a.m. on Monday when the driver of the vehicle, a 2006 Ford Mustang, lost control and hit a tree. Drennon was taken to Baptist Health Medical Center in Little Rock, and a second passenger Robert J. Wheeler, 28, of Malvern, was taken to Saline Memorial Hospital. As of press time, the extent of the injuries was not known for Drennon and Wheeler. Merritt’s listed address was 8079 Steel Bridge Road in Benton. Police said she was wearing her seat belt at the time of the crash. |
