School board member Burchfield draws opposition from Smith
A Harmony Grove School Board member has drawn opposition. Derek Smith filed Wednesday as a candidate for the Postion 4 seat held by Charles “Buck” Burchfield, who has filed for re-election. Burchfield is the only one of five incumbents to file so far for re-election. He was elected last year to fill the unexpired term for Tracy Jackson, who resigned from the board. The school election in Saline County is Tuesday, Sept. 16. The filing period ends at noon Friday. Five other people have filed for board positions. In Benton, David Polner and Joe T. Felan have filed for Position 4, which is held by board President Andy Bloxom. Clark Hopper has filed for Position 6 on the Benton board. That position is held by Amy Daniel, who has served on the board for nearly two decades. Joe Wishard has filed for the Position 4 seat at Bryant. Board President David Passmore occupies that seat. At Bauxite, Howard Kitchens’ Position 4 seat has two challengers so far. They are Mike Parsons and Randy Childress. |
