Benton School Board faces lengthy agenda as school time nears E-mail

A lengthy agenda could call for long day at the Benton School Board meeting as board members prepare for the students’ return next Monday.
Today’s meeting will be held in the Ringgold Elementary School cafeteria starting at 5:30 p.m.
    The start of the meeting will honor several students and teachers of the Benton School District, including Lori Peden, Benton Cubs and Jessica Slover.
Superintendent Tony Prothro will ask for an approve of elementary multi-purpose building schematic designs and approval of Benton Middle School classroom addition schematic designs. Prothro also plans to ask for approval of property on Cox Street.
    Other agenda topics included approval of board policies and proposed board polices. Prothro will present a facility update including an architect report and construction manager report. Karla Neathery, director of curriculum and instruction, will discuss academic awards and accomplishments of students in the 2007-2008 school year. She will also have an update on a preschool program and professional development.
    Dan Jordan, director of personnel and student services, is expected to update the board about the school choice program. Athletic and Transportation Director Scott Neathery will give an update.
