Popular Bunko Bash set for Oct. 14 E-mail
Monday, 29 September 2008
Plans are under way for Junior Auxiliary of Benton’s third annual women’s Bunko Bash, which has grown significantly in popularity.

The event is slated for Tuesday, Oct. 14, at the Christian Life Center of First United Methodist Church, 200 N. Market Street in Benton.
Refreshments will be served beginning at 6 p.m. and the games will begin at 7. Winners will be announced at 9. Door prizes will be awarded throughout the evening.
Tickets are $25 and may be purchased in advance by calling 794-0277. All proceeds from the event benefit Junior Auxiliary of Benton.
Over the past several years, Junior Auxiliary has hosted a four-person scramble golf tournament as one of its major fundraisers before trying Bunko Bash in 2006, said Jennifer Tucker, public relations chair for the organization.

Attendance was high and the event was successful in offering an evening of fun and entertainment for a good cause, she said.
“This year we have made a couple of changes including offering local businesses the opportunity to purchase table sponsorships,” event co-chairwoman Mandy Lane said.
More than 30 people and local businesses have already signed up to become table sponsors, Lane noted. The cost of becoming a table sponsor ranges from $50 to $100.
This year’s sponsors include Above and Beyond, AdBiz, Ashlee Kathryn Sa-lon, Benton Women’s Clinic, Cakery Affairs, Carson Physical Therapy, Dizzy’s Grill, Family Practice Laser Center, Fitness Unlimited, Green Eyed Frog Graphix, Maurice’s, McAdoo Photo Artistry, Phillips-Moudy-Duke Real Estate, Simmons Eye Car, Smith-Caldwell Drug Store, Today’s Total Image Salon, West Side Pharmacy and Yakety Yak.
Other sponsors include Beth Martin Photography, Cherry’s Hallmark, Everett Buick Pontiac GMC, Ex-press Yourself, Giggles and Wiggles, Johnston’s Home Center Merrill Lynch—Erin Eason, Paul White, Robert Herzfeld, Ron Jones Farmers Insurance, Simply Skin, Whims Gifts and Home Accents and Reser’s.
Also this year, Junior Auxiliary is selling Bunko Bash T-shirts for $12 each to commemorate the event, Lane said.
“Even if you have never played Bunko before the night of this event, the Junior Auxiliary encourages ladies in the community to bring a friend and join in the fun of learning how to play this popular game,” she said. “It will be a great opportunity to see familiar faces and make new acquaintances.”
The rules will be be easy for “simplicity’s sake and will be displayed on each table for easy reference,” Lane added.
In addition, she said, Junior Auxiliary members will be on hand at each table to assist the players.
Proceeds from the events will allow Junior Auxiliary to continue providing much-needed services to the children and families of Saline County, Lane said.
In addition to their many service projects such as JA on Call, which provides food, clothing, school supplies, and other services to families in need during the month of December, Aux-iliary members will also be hosting a Breakfast with Santa event.
“This project allows the women to interact up close and personal with with children in the community who need the kindness of others to make the holidays a little brighter,” Lane said.
