Eddie Black, executive director of the Benton Area Chamber of Commerce, will be the honoree Friday night at Pulaski Technical College Foundation’s “A Night with Black” fundraiser.
The event begins with a reception at 6:30 p.m. at the college’s Little Rock-South site, which recently opened at 13000 Interstate 30 in the former Little Rock Expo building. Heavy hors d’oeuvres and desserts will be created by the Pulaski Technical College Arkansas Culinary School, located at Little Rock-South. The program begins at 7:30 p.m. and will include a live auction and personal toasts and roasts from some of Black’s closest friends. KTHV ’s Craig O’Neill will be a special guest. “Eddie Black helped the Pulaski Technical College Foundation secure the site where our Saline County Career Center is currently located,” said Joyce Taylor, executive director of the Pulaski Technical College Foundation. “We want to honor Eddie for his contributions to education in Central Arkansas, and we also hope to raise funds so that even more Arkansans can reach their goals of achieving a college education.” Jerry Beaty, executive assistant for the Benton Area Chamber of Commerce, and Lori Blankenship, human resources manager at CoorsTek, are co-chairing the event committee. Tickets are still available for the event, Beaty said, and are $50 per person. They may be obtained at the chamber office until noon Thursday or may be ordered online at www.pulaskitech.edu or by calling Jamie Higgins at 812-2771. Proceeds will benefit Pulaski Technical College Little Rock-South. “We invite you all to come out for a great night of fun and entertainment, outstanding food and drink, and a great opportunity to see this wonderful new facility that is now serving Saline County,” Beaty said. She noted that dress for the event is “business elegance.” The Pulaski Technical College Foundation is the official fundraising and private gift-receiving agency for the college. Charted as a nonprofit organization for educational purposes, the foundation solicits and receives tax-deductible gifts and manages these gifts and bequests for the benefit of the college. The college’s mission is to provide access to high quality education that promotes student learning, to enable individuals to develop to their fullest potential and to support the economic development of the state.
