Jill Jones, executive director of the Benton Advertising and Promotion Commission, reviews proposed site plans for an events center, equestrian facility, hotel and conference center the commission and other local groups hope to see built in Benton. Looking on are, from left, Aldermen Steve Lee, Joe Lee Richards and David Sparks. Jones’ presentation was made Monday night in a meeting of the Benton City Council’s Community Services Committee. The project would include relocating the fairgrounds facilities and creating additional space for recreational vehicle parking and other amenities, Jones said. In meetings last week, more than 100 local residents shared their views on the proposal and made suggestions about accommodating particular activities. No cost estimate has been given for the project and none is expected until the plans are finalized, Jones said. (Courier photo by Lynda Hollenbeck)
