Dozens of Saline County residents and joined hands in a unity celebration Saturday at the First United Methodist Church in Benton to honor Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. The celebration featured talks by pastors from various churches in Arkansas, a community choir, 39 seconds of silence, a replay of King’s “A Beautiful Symphony of Brotherhood” speech and a unity message from the Rev. Thomas Hale of Arkadelphia. The Martin Luther King Day parade through Downtown Benton begins at 3 this afternoon. It is sponsored by the Ralph Bunche Community Development Corp.
