Lowering the beam E-mail
Thursday, 12 March 2009
Image
Arkansas Highway and Transportation Depart-ment employees look on as cranes raise and lower steel beams for overpass construction at Benton Parkway and Edison Avenue on Wednesday in Benton. A department spokesman said it took four hours to get the first beam in place, but the others took “a much shorter time.” Eight beams were placed on the overpass and several trains were stopped during the process. Overpasses are being built at the location to facilitate traffic at the interchange with Arkansas 35, Edison Avenue and Benton Parkway. (Photo special to the Courier by Paul Mansfield)
