The Irvine family of Benton is offering a $500 reward for information leading to the arrest of a man who stole her vehicle and nearly stole her children.
Irvine, 25, said she was pumping gas at an Exxon station at Broadway and Cypress in North Little Rock, next to Alltel Arena, just before 7:30 p.m. Sunday when a man jumped inside her vehicle and hit the accelerator. Irvine’s children — Ciaran, 1, and Devlin, 3 — were in the vehicle and the mother tried to grab the door handle. Irvine managed to open the door, but she was dragged several feet before losing her grip. Nearly a block away, the carjacker let the two children off on the side of the road. As a service station attendant called police, Devlin was seen walking back to the station. Ciaran Irvine was found a little ways down the road, safe and sound thanks to a motorcycle rider who kept the child out of traffic. “They are doing OK with what they went through,” Irvine’s husband, Colin, said of his family. “The oldest, I think, is a little traumatized, but we are going to give it time and see how he does.” Eight minutes after stealing Irvine’s vehicle, the carjacker reportedly robbed another gas station on Broadway. North Little Rock police are reviewing the video surveillance tapes. In the meantime, Colin Irvine said he is thankful that his family is safe. The family lives at 413 N. Market St. in Benton. Anyone with information about this case is asked to call the North Little Rock Police Department at 758-1234 or call local authorities.
