CUB SCOUT BALANCING ACT E-mail
Thursday, 18 June 2009
Image
Eric Hillson, 6, of Pack 32 in Benton carefully crosses a monkey bridge Wednesday during Pirates of the Ouachita Cub Scout camp at Kennely Park in Haskell. The camp, sponsored by the Nischa Sipo District of the Ouachita Area Council of the Boy Scouts of America, continues this week. More than 100 Cub Scouts registered for the camp, a significant increase from the 32 who participated last year. District official Starla Beall attributes the rise in attendance to families finding activities for children closer to home during the current economic downturn. Camp activities include fishing, crafts, shooting arrows and more. Eric is a student at Angie Grant Elementary School in Benton. Assisting is a camp volunteer.
