George “Sam” Hood, 71, of Benton died Thursday, Aug. 27, 2009.
He was born Aug. 14, 1938, in Sallisaw, Okla. to John and Vesta Hood.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Roy Hood, J.B. Hood; and a sister, Dorothy Jones.
Survivors include his wife, Carol Hood of Benton; two sons, Michael Jenkins and wife Sharon of Redfield and Joe Don Norwood of Little Rock; four daughters, Tammy Barber and husband Ray, Pam Gracie and husband Keith,
LaVonne Boothe and husband Bobby, all of Little Rock and Judy Norwood and husband Robert of Graycourt, S.C.; two sisters, Lena Grantham of Coos Bay, Ore., and Nona Carper of Benton; three brothers, Jessie Hood and wife Pauline, Cleo Hood and wife Lucille and Clyde Hood and wife Elaine, all of Benton; eight grandchildren, Bill, Charlie, Devon, Alex, Austyn, James, Jody, Christy, Nolan, Daniel, Allen Carl, Yvonne and Katlyn; and 11 great- grandchildren.
Funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Ashby Funeral Home with the Rev. Dyle Wilson officiating. Burial will follow in Graham Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. monday at the funeral home.
Family comments: Sam will be missed by numerous people from all across the United States.
