Council to hear budget proposals E-mail
Monday, 12 October 2009
Benton City Council is scheduled tonight to vote on two ordinances that amend the general fund of the 2009 budget. One of the ordinances notes that the community development department will accept a $240,000 grant previously approved to make improvements at the Benton Senior Activity Center, 210 Jefferson St.
The work at the center is expected to begin later this month.
The other budget revision involves the acceptance of a $1,000 grant for the community development department. This grant is to be used for training activities for members of the Benton Historic Commission.
In another matter, the council plans to vote on an ordinance waiving construction-related fees for certain homes built by Central Arkansas Planning and Development Department.
Another matter on the council agenda is a resolution confirming the reappointment of Rodney Wright of the Benton Police Department to the Benton Parks and Recreation Commission.
Reports from the council’s standing committees also are possible.
At the start of the meeting, the youth of the month will be recognized by the Mayor’s Youth Advisory Council. The honored youth for October is Nathan Hopper.
The council session is set for 7 p.m. at Benton Municipal Complex. An agenda session is set for 6 p.m.
