Bauxite coach Watson resigns |

BAUXITE — Bauxite football coach Jon Watson resigned after 20 seasons.
The Bauxite school board accepted his resignation at a meeting Tuesday night and promoted assistant coach Shane Clancy. Watson leaves the Miners with a mark of 184-51. He guided Bauxite to the 1996 state championship and to a state runner-up finish. Bauxite finished 9-3 this season, advancing to the second round of hte playoffs. Bauxite superintendent Mickey Billingsley said Watson had considered retiring from coaching since the end of the season. Watson shifts from head coach and athletic director to middle school dean of students. Check out the Courier for a complete story in Wednesday’s edition.
