Sammy Andrew Shock, 68, of Bryant died Wednesday, March 10, 2010. He was born Oct. 14, 1941, in Enola. Mr. Shock served his country in the army during the Vietnam War in the Intelligence Division in Germany. After the service he graduated from Capital City College and was employed by them for seven years. In 1980 he began working at Munro Shoe Company, as Account Manager for 26 years until his retirement in 2006. He enjoyed working with the wonderful people at Munro and truly missed them when he retired. He was preceded in death by his parents Vernon and Lorene Shock of Enola; and two brothers Bobby Shock and Jimmy Shock. Survivors include his wife of 33 years, Sandra; a son, Todd Parker and wife Tammy of Benton; two grandsons, Dalton Lee and Zayne Gray Parker of Benton; a stepgrandson, Eric Slatton and wife Heather of Memphis; a brother, Ronnie Shock and wife Barbara of Greenbrier; a sister, Mary Ann Shock of California; two brothers-in-law, Jerry Parker and wife JoAnna of Mt. Ida and William Parker and wife Pat of Carlisle; his mother-in-law, Odean Parker of Carlisle; and a host of nieces, nephews and friends. Funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at Dial and Dudley Funeral Home in Bryant. Burial to follow in Carlisle Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home. Family comments: Sam was a wonderful person with a quick sense of humor. He was an avid Razorback fan and the best arm-chair coach around. One of his greatest pleasures was time spent with his grandsons Dalton and Zayne.
