Gregory named to A&P E-mail
Thursday, 25 October 2007
Susan Gregory, owner of Darlin’s Cafe in Benton, is the newest member of the Benton Advertising and Promotion Commission.
Gregory’s appointment to the commission was approved by the Benton City Council in a meeting Monday night.
The commission chooses its replacement members when a vacancy occurs.
Gregory said she is looking forward to serving on the panel.
Other commissioners are Alan Jessup, chairman; Alderman Brad Moore; Alderman Greg White; David Prater; Charlie Jones; and Naresh Patel.
Gregory is serving in a designated industry position.
In the council meeting, Alderman Brad Moore announced that the panel has developed a job description for an executive director for the commission. A salary range has been set of $35,000-$65,000 in addition to the city of Benton’s benefits package, Moore said.
Moore also noted that a delinquent tax hearing was held recently for Bo’s Barbecue. A representative from the restaurant did not attend the event, he said.
The commission has recommended that City Attorney Brent Houston file a tax lien against the restaurant in accordance with state law and city ordinance, Moore said.
It was noted that the commission’s total bank balance, as of Sept. 30, was $1,013,641. A total of $69,955 was collected in September for business activity during August. This amount is $8,888 more than projected in the annual budget, Moore said.
Moore also reported that the commissioners discussed the panel’s 2008 budget and approved a maximum of $47,000 for the production costs of a comprehensive marketing campaign that will be realized in the fourth quarter of this year.
The commission recently approved a “Welcome to Your Comfort Zone” theme for the campaign. The slogan was developed by Mangan Holcomb & Partners, a Little Rock advertising firm.
Moore noted that Jon Holcomb of the firm reported the creative work will be finalized soon for the vinyl wrap of a new trailer to be used to transport Mollie, the city of Benton’s 1930 firetruck.
