CADC seeks applicants for single-parent scholarship |

The Central Arkansas Development Council Saline County Single Parent Scholarship Fund is accepting applications until July 1.
For an application, contact Valerie Ramsey at 315-0885. Applicants must return a completed application, three letters of recommendation, a current education transcript, and a goal statement. Applicants must be enrolled in an undergraduate course of study, with the exception of candidates for the master of arts in teaching degree. Candidates must meet the following criteria: •A resident of the county in which they are applying. •A high school or GED graduate •Single head of household (single, divorced, and widowed) •Pursuing a career-oriented course of study. •Income of no more than 125 percent of poverty level. •A recipient of, or in the process of obtaining a Pell Grant. •Participate in the CADC Family Development Program. Each scholarship recipient is provided with counseling, information, referrals in the program, and in return the scholarship recipients are encouraged to participate in annual fund-raising drives. Eligible expenses must be documented, pre-approved, and payments of scholarship monies are made directly to vendors. Every dollar raised locally is matched up to $6000 by the Arkansas Single Parent Scholarship Fund (with funding through the Walton Family Foundation). Single Parent Scholarships are used to offset emergencies such as child care, car repair, fuel, books, and tuition. CADC is a private nonprofit community action agency that was formed in 1965.
