Warren Steward Smith

Warren Steward Smith, 94, of Haskell, passed from this life on Sunday, September 23.  He was born April 2, 1918 at Haskell to the late Henry Steward and Maude Belle Cornett Smith. Mr. Smith was a member of Mt. Harmony Missionary Baptist Church and a beloved member and life-long resident of the Haskell community. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather, who loved spending time with his family and friends. Warren will be sorely missed by all who knew him.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Doris Annette Smith, son, Warren Dale Smith, grandson, Robert David Newton, sisters, Ruby Smith, Jewell Smith and Marie Phillips.
He is survived by his daughters, Joyce Newton and husband Bob of Riverdale, Ga., Marilyn Black and husband Gary of Benton, Carol Chesser and husband David of Maumelle; a daughter- in- law, Janice Smith of Eureka Springs; 10 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild; and many family members and friends.
Funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 27, at Ashby Funeral Home with the Revs. Ben Palmer and Dennis Gage officiating. Burial will follow at Mt. Harmony Cemetery in Haskell.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
