William Donald Hilborn
William Donald Hilborn, 78, of Troy, Mo., died March 5. 2014, after a three-week hospitalization related to complications from diabetes and heart disease.
He was born June 2, 1935, in Smackover, to William Stephen Hilborn and Ade Roselee Cliff Hilborn.
He is survived by one son, William S. Hilborn; and three daughters, Heidi M. Presley, Kathleen E. and Andrew Rios and Heather Hilborn; grandchildren, Jessica Hilborn, Jeffrey Hilborn, Greg Presley, Michelle Presley, Kerry Hilborn, Samantha Kirby, Cherokee Hilborn, Colin Hilborn-Barber, Kayla Barber, Tabitha, Brianna, Arielle, Anthony Tucker, Jason Kirby and Christina Kirby; great-children, Serenity and Ivy, Gabe and Jordan, Hayden and Mya, Nevaeh and Dalton, Karisa, Stephen, and Nate; and one great-great grandchild, Audrey.
Also surviving are a sister-in-law, Patricia Gillis and several nieces, nephews and cousins in Arkansas and Texas.
Mr. Hilborn was a retired electrician from McDonnell Douglas in the aerospace industry. He had done work with NASA on some of the early shuttles that traveled in space. He also worked on the Harrier, F-16-F-18 and Stealth fighters plans. He had joined the Air Force right after he graduated from Benton High School.
He was also drummer with Eddie Beers and the Rhythm Drifters for many years and also was a stand-in drummer for Loretta Lynn in her early years. He also played with a few other bands in Lincoln County that performed at numerous gigs.
A private memorial family gathering will be held at a later date.
Alternative Funeral and Cremation Services in St. Peters, Mo., is in charge of arrangements.
