William Larkin 'Bill' McCurry

William Larkin “Bill” McCurry, 67, of Hot Springs passed away early, Friday, Nov. 1, 2013, peacefully at his home surrounded by his loving family.
He was born Aug. 15, 1946, in Texarkana, Ark., to Larkin and Elsie McCurry.
Bill loved his family. His most treasured times were spent with his wife, kids and grandkids traveling, hunting, fishing, canoeing, and four-wheeling. He loved attending his grandkids' sporting events.
Bill graduated from Stephen F. Austin State University (with an MBA) and retired from Bridgestone/Firestone after 35 years of service. He served his country in the U.S. Navy during Vietnam aboard the USS Caliente.
A servant of the Lord, Bill was was an active member of Hot Springs Baptist Church until his health failed.
He was preceded in death by his father, Larkin McCurry.
Cherishing his memory are his wife of 47 years, Brenda Newton McCurry; his children, Michael McCurry (Jennifer) of Benton and Stephanie Poe (Donald) of Little Rock; his mother, Elsie McCurry; and a sister, Larka Parks (Michael,) both of Nacogdoches, Texas. He was known as "Pappa" to Lindsay (Matt), Drew, Karrie, Zachary, and Katelynn. He is also survived by two great-grandchildren, Hailey and Mattison; numerous nieces and nephews; and special friends.
A graveside service was held on Monday, Nov. 4, at Liberty Hill Memorial Gardens in San Augustine, Texas, with Brother. Frank Holwrath officiating. Arrangements were under the direction of Gross Funeral Home in Hot Springs.
