Winifred Jeanette Head Miller Thigpen

Winifred Jeanette Head Miller Thigpen, 71, of Keren, Texas, went to be with the Lord on July 13, 2014.
Jeanette was born July 8, 1943, on the Bauxite rural route to Winford Head and Lina Alice Griffis Head. The two later divorced and Winford married Ruth Mathis Wiggins and Lina married Joe Crumpton.
The Heads moved to Ingleside, Texas, in 1953, so Jeanette spent most of her school life at Ingleside Public Schools. She graduated from Ingleside High School as valedictorian in 1961, and from a two-year executive secretarial course at Southwestern Business University in Houston, Texas, in 1962. She worked as executive secretary in several places and last as an administrative assistant for SMI in Waco, Texas.
Jeanette married John J. Miller on Feb. 23, 1963, and they had one son, Brian Craig. They later divorced and on Nov. 19, 1983, she married Bob Thigpen.
In 1992, Jeanette suffered a brain aneurysm, which necessitated surgery, causing her to lose her short-term memory. She has resided in a nursing home almost all the time since that time. She passed away at Kerens Care Center in Kerens, Texas.
Jeanette was preceded in death by her father in 1981' by her brother, Harold Wayne Head, in 1996; and by her mother, Lina Crumpton, in 1999.
She is survived by her son, Brian Craig Miller and his wife, Dorothy Okumu Miller; Brian's son, Jeremi J. Miller and wife Amy Miller; a son Timothy Jay Miller; two grandsons, Kylan and Camden Miller; her brother, James Nelson Head of Waco, Texas; three nephews, three grand-nephews, two grand-nieces, and one grand-grand nephew; her ex-husband, Bob Thigpen, his sons, Bobby and Chris; and his daughter, Lisa Smith.
Funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, July 18, at Ashby Funeral Home. Direct internment will be at Pinecrest Memorial Park after the service. Some of the family will visit the gravesite Friday afternoon after the internment is completed.
Visitation at the funeral home will be held at 10 a.m. preceding the service.
