Donald Burton Timm, 95, of Benton passed away Sunday, April 24, 2011, at his home.
He was born March 4, 1916, in Highmore, S.D., to the late Henry and Bertha Timm.
Mr. Timm worked for Curtis Publishing Company in Sioux City, Iowa, and was general manager of Brandon Furniture in Hot Springs. He came from a musical family, played the oboe, and loved music. He played the oboe in the Sioux City Symphony in Iowa and the Hot Springs Community Band for over 20 years. He was also a member of the Hot Springs Sertoma Club.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one sister, Gladys Uhl; and one brother, Everett Timm.
Survivors include his wife of 75 years, Alexine Timm; three sons, Matthew Timm and wife Carol King of Nashville, Tenn., Joel Timm and wife Kristine of Van Nuys, Calif., and Jonathan Timm and wife Cyndi of Little Rock; three daughters, Carolyn Spillers and husband David and Elizabeth Selby and husband John, all of Benton and Victoria Taff and husband Russ of Nashville, Tenn.; six grandsons, Nathan, Andrew and Daniel Spillers, Joshua Timm, Zachary Selby and Julian Timm; five granddaughters, Sarah Selby, Leah Opitz, Caroline Timm and Madi Rose and Charlotte Taff; two great-grandsons, Cameron and Adam Spillers; and two great-granddaughters, Anna Rose Timm and Perri Opitz.
Graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday at Crestview Memorial Park, Hwy 70 East in Hot Springs under the direction of Roller-Ballard Funeral Home in Benton, call 315-4047 with the Rev. Harry Woodall officiating.
His six grandsons will serve as pallbearers.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
