Linvel Henry Cranford, 90, of Little Rock passed away on Monday, May 30, 2011. Linvel was born in Amity on August 26, 1920, to William and Laura Cranford who have preceded him in death. He is survived by his loving wife of over 65 years, Violet.
He leaves to cherish his memory, eight daughters and two sons; Barbara (Bill) Howard of Hensley, Thelma Faye Calderon of Hensley, Jean (Joseph) Howard, of Mabelvale, Carolyn Sue (Gregory) Herr, of Warrenton, Mo., Betty (Richard) Askins of Mabelvale, Phyllis (Gerald) Elia of Alexander, Sandra (Karl) Merkel of Plainview, and Marilyn Nordman of Little Rock, Lucky (Jeanette) Cranford of Sherwood and Len (Vanessa) Cranford of Mabelvale. Linvel also leaves behind his 25 grandchildren, 29 great-grandchildren and five great-great grandchildren.
Linvel served in the United States Navy during WW II. He was an employee of U.S. Mercury Quicksilver Company and retired from Quality Foods.
His pallbearers are his grandsons, Robert Chafton, Ritchie Chafton, Tony Wilkins, Trevor Joyner, Brian Nordman and Jacob Nordman.
The family will receive friends today from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. at Dial and Dudley Funeral Home, 4212 Hwy 5 North, Bryant, AR 72022.
Pastor Tracy Shelton will officiate the funeral service, to be held on Thursday at 11 a.m. at Martindale Baptist Church, 18900 Colonel Glenn Road, Little Rock, AR 72210. Interment will follow at Ida Mission Cemetery.
